"Windows of the World" showcases Matle's varied World Music compositions while featuring the dynamic percussion of Dennis Sheridan and wordless vocals from Sheila Landis. While the project has a sound influenced by Indian, Middle Eastern and African elements it also has roots in jazz and rock. Matle’s formative years found him favoring experimental “classic rock” artists such as Jimi Hendrix, The Beatles and Frank Zappa while later being influenced by jazz and Latin music. With the melding of all these styles, Matle has created a diverse palette of sounds that combine his musical musings freely, without boundaries, a sonically provocative album that can be enjoyed by fans of New Age, World, Jazz and Rock music. Following the this release Rick Matle was awarded as the "Outstanding World Music Composer" in both 2006 and 2007 by the Detroit Music Awards.
